This project was finished in 2013. The architect & customer came to us with an idea on wanting to use some kind of dark natural stone cladding to finish off a block fence. We first thought of a bluestone smooth honed finish paver to use as a cladding. Due to the type of house, the honed cladding wasn’t going to work. The stone needed to be some kind of rockface/ extremely rough surface. After many consultations with our stone mansions in our processing factory overseas we came up with an idea of using solid hand split Bluestone cobbles. 1,000 pieces were 100x100 between 30ml-50ml thick. Due to the stone being hand chipped the thickness of each cobble was extremely important.

If the thickness was to thin it would look very strange. If the stone was too thick it wouldn’t work either. 8 years on the wall looks exactly the same as it did the day it was installed.
